1930’s Buick Hearse

My dad worked at a funeral home for years and years.  He did everything from arranging funerals and driving the hearse to collecting and embalming the bodies.  He never drove a hearse quite like this one as he was in the industry during the 70’s, but he always liked the look of the older machines.  Personally, I love the clean lines of this particular car, I think it’s very elegant and serious looking.

This isn’t my best, in my oppinion, its the first and only time I’ve used carved wood, maybe the last given how dificult it was.  Even though it’s not the best example of my work, it’s one of the few of my own pieces I have hanging on my wall just because it reminds me of my dad.

  1. Beautifully made, and I enjoyed reading about your dad and I think this is a very lovely and incredibly cool tribute to him. 🙂
