I have never been that into Disney, much less Disney princesses, but when I saw this pattern it put me in mind of a really vintage Disney vibe. I didn’t know which princess it was, exactly, until I put it up next to a pumpkin, and then it clicked.
Cinderella! I think that this is adorable. If I had a daughter I would make this for her and make her wear it. The hair, the necklace, the shoes, it is such a simple look. Who knew that children’s clothing could look so elegant?
The original Cinderella movie came out in 1950, so this pattern actually predates the movie! (Also, tying this back to a previous post, 1947 was the year The Roswell Incident occurred). 1947 was also the year that American test pilot Chuck Yeager broke the sound-barrier, foreshadowing the Space Race that was just around the corner. Jackie Robinson signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers, helping to usher in a new era of America’s pass-time. “Near You” by Francis Craig and His Orchestra proved to be a surprise hit by topping the carts to be the #1 Billboard hit for 1947.
That dress is ADORABLE! And what a darling pattern illustration! SO CUTE!
Also, not being super into Disney, referencing Roswell multiple times, plus being incredibly multi-talented and creative – you’re a girl after my own heart! 🙂
