Letter to 2017

First of all, I want to thank you for teaching me so much more than I ever anticipated.  Yes, there were disappointments and struggles, but I think it’s safe to say it was all worth it.  I’m confident that I will be able to look back on our time together with fondness.  There were new experiences, friends, and accomplishments throughout.  Through you, I think I’ve really learned the value of time and that I have a lot more control over it than I thought.  You see, 2017, I must confess that I spent much of you just wishing that 2018 were already here, and that’s not fair to you.  But in spite of my impatience, you taught me to make my time my own, and that I am responsible for using you wisely.  I think we both know that once 2018 gets here, I’m going to find a reason to wish it was 2019.  You’ve shown me I can do better than that.

You’ve given me so much to carry into 2018, I really can’t thank you enough.  I hope our last little bit of time is sweet, after all, I will soon only be able to visit you in memory.  You have woven yourself into my history and your colors are vibrant.  Thank you, 2017.
